cNAATE draws upon the expertise of its independent evaluator, The FDR Group, to learn about the program's impact. FDR surveys each cohort of Teacher Fellows at four points over their participation in the program, and principals at three points. It also uses peer surveys to understand the manner in which NAATE Teacher Fellows are influencing their colleagues.

To complement the surveys, NAATE collects student-achievement data at the teacher, school, and district level. NAATE continues to analyze standardized student achievement data for teachers in order to track trends in Teacher Fellows' effectiveness in their own classrooms, and as leaders within their grades and departments. NAATE also assesses changes in the very specific components of Teacher Fellows' instructional and leadership practice that are the foci of their Inquiry Projects.
