NAATE Program Update: Cohort I and Cohort X February 1, 2017
This fall, NAATE welcomed two new Cohorts!
In October, we welcomed School Leader Cohort I to Wilmington, DE. This program was particularly exciting, as it was our first official School Leader Cohort. We welcomed administrators, principals, deans and coaches from a variety of schools across the country, many of whom had sent teachers to NAATE in the past. This program was challenging and enjoyable; we really enjoyed the “Building Strong Structures” activity, where we blindfolded our School Leaders, gave them a set of blocks, and asked them to build the tallest tower possible.
Most recently, we welcomed Cohort X to their very first program in Wilmington, DE. Not at all intimidated by their pre-work, they arrived in Wilmington ready to explore cases centered on Communication & Feedback, Leading, and Teaming. Their program was a blast, and we look forward to seeing them again in February.
Cohort VIII also returned to Wilmington in November to begin their second year with NAATE. It was a pleasure as usual to hear their rich conversations and see how they have continued to grow as educators. We are looking forward to seeing them for their final session in June.
2016 was a busy year for NAATE and in reflection, shows how much our organization and programming continues to grow. Over the course of the year we’ve served a total of 344 educators by holding 9 programs serving 277 teachers and 50 school leaders in addition to separate pilot programs for training potential new facilitators and modules. We’ve had 91 Teacher Fellows graduate in 2016, bringing our alumni network to 229 teachers across the country. We are thrilled by the continued growth, and the conversations that are being started across the country.
We kicked off 2017 by welcoming back Cohort IX for their winter session this January. They were happy to be back together as a cohort and also had the luxury of enjoying the Hotel DuPont bathtubs for the first time. Teacher Fellows also engaged in deep and meaningful conversations around social emotional competency in students and teachers and began their Adult Learning Protocol Model series of consultancies. We look forward to seeing them again in July!
We are looking forward to running more programs than ever in 2017! Thank you to the wonderful teacher fellows, school leaders, and section advisors and staff who made 2016 such a success. Here’s to a great 2017!
