NAATE announces new Board members September 19, 2013
The National Association of Advanced Teacher Education (NAATE) welcomes to its Board of Directors two new members with extensive experience in the education sector. Jen Holleran, Executive Director of Start Up: Education, a non-profit established to aid Newark, New Jersey’s public schools and Jeff Wetzler, Executive Vice President for Strategy, Innovation and Organizational Development at Teach for America, were elected to the NAATE Board of Directors at the most recent board meeting. Both Ms. Holleran and Dr. Wetzler have distinguished records of service on behalf of K-12 students across the country and support NAATE’s mission to enhance, leverage and retain top-tier teachers in the country’s most challenged schools.
Current NAATE board member Mark Beaudouin commented, "Jen and Jeff are highly experienced professionals who will contribute greatly to the NAATE Board. With their participation, NAATE is well positioned to accelerate its impact on high performing teachers, their peers, students and schools." Rob Walkingshaw of the NAATE board added, “We are delighted to have two individuals of such high caliber lending their talents to the NAATE work. They both bring a thoughtfulness and deep understanding of the importance of top tier teachers to solving our nation’s public education problems.”
