The Curriculum and Content Director is responsible for the research, design, writing and coordination of NAATE program content, including pre-readings, cases and class content, and self-facilitated field content. Working closely with the Program team and other content design personnel at NAATE, the Director will do primary and secondary literature research, aid in the design and writing of case and class materials and ideally serve as a case and class facilitator in NAATE programs. A deep understanding of a range of teaching and learning as well as supporting and leading topics is a prerequisite for this work. Experience as a school-based professional is highly desirable. The position is based in one of NAATE’s east coast offices (NYC and RI).
Responsibilities: Support and lead the development and refinement of NAATE program curricular content. Conduct research of appropriate books, articles, chapters, research reports to identify materials useful for informing the design of NAATE program content and for use in the actual delivery of that content. Identify key themes around which to develop content in conjunction with other program and content development personnel. Write case materials, class materials, notes, research briefs, and supporting materials. Develop understanding of and skills in leading participant-driven, inquiry-based adult learning sessions, including large and small group discussions, case facilitation and other modes. Support design and delivery of NAATE program sessions. General contributions to sustaining the high quality of design and delivery of NAATE programs, before during and after program delivery.
Candidate Requirements: Experience as a pre-K – 12 educator/leader. Deep understanding of teaching & learning, as well as, supporting and leading concepts and principles. Experience conducting primary and secondary research. Intellectual capacity to do rigorous research; innate curiosity. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in a range of adult learning settings, in pre-K – 12, higher education, or adult education. Demonstrated ability to project plan, execute and deliver. Attributes & Characteristics: Takes initiative and is self-directed. Thrives in fast-paced start-up and team environment. Is self-reflective, interested in growing professionally, and open to giving and receiving constructive feedback. Ability to modify one’s approach based on the articulated needs and views of others. Has an acumen for learning. Able to maintain perspective and has a sense of humor even when faced with obstacles. Capacity for some travel (approximately 30-40% of time) to school organizations and NAATE program sessions.
