Senior National Director, Philanthropic Partnerships
The Senior National Director of Philanthropic Partnerships will have responsibility for NAATE relationships with all national philanthropic organizations and support regional efforts in the field, working closely with the senior leadership team of NAATE.
NAATE cultivates a mix of national and regional funders committed to the work of retaining and developing talent in schools. The Senior National Director is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of national philanthropic funders. Regional funder relationships are the responsibility of the field partnerships organization and are supported directly by the Senior National Director. S/he will manage and support all existing NAATE relationships and work to identify new sources of philanthropic support. Research, identification, relationship cultivation, grant generation, ongoing stewardship, grant reporting are all responsibilities of the position. The position is based in one of NAATE’s east coast offices (NYC and RI).
Responsibilities Manage all existing donor relationships on a national level. Identify and develop new relationships aligned with NAATE’s mission and the objectives of prospective foundations, corporations and individuals. Schedule visits and cultivate relationships with personnel from granting organizations. Generate grant proposals and manage and execute all required grant reporting. Support NAATE regional partnerships team in their efforts to cultivate local funders supportive of NAATE’s work in their areas of geographic interest. Contribute to NAATE marketing and communications efforts. Manage the support of other NAATE team members in the philanthropic process.
Candidate Requirements: Work experience in advancement/development, relationship-building, or organizational liaison role within the field of education. Demonstrated understanding of educator development, professional learning of educators, adult learning and the capability of speaking to the value of NAATE and its alignment with potential funder organizations’ strategic goals. Exceptional written and verbal communication. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Ability to build strong relationships with others. Ability to modify one’s approach based on the articulated needs and views of others.

Capacity to regularly travel nationally (approximately 30-40% of time) to philanthropic organizations, conferences and NAATE school organizations.
